Buffalo Bill Wild West Attributed Winchester 1873 Rifle

Buffalo Bill Wild West attributed Winchester 1873 rifle with letter. 1873 Third Model. 32 WCF, 30" barrel, Serial #223410. Very good condition. Wood stock and forend have very light wear and patina for age an dhave been re-varnished with a few dings and chips present. Barrel, magazine tube and receiver have mostly gray/brown patina with moderate wear. Bluing remains in some protected areas. Lever, trigger and hammer retain most of blue finish. Bore retains some brightness, but has some pitting near the center of the barrel. Factory 30" barrel, factory set trigger, rear buckhorn sights. Marked, German Silver plaque mounted on right side of stock is marked "Buffalo Bill's/Wild West" in cursive script. Left barrel slant and underside of receiver marked with initials "WCF (William F. Buffalo Bill Cody). Mechanically good. Includes letter from Cody Firearms Museum shipping it on December 13, 1886 to an unlisted address as part of Order 12903. Notes; This rifle is attributed to being used in the Buffalo Bill Wild West shows that ran from 1883 to 1913, before the show went bankrupt. The Cody letter does not make mention of where it was shipped. Provenance: Property from the collection of the late Marshall E. Kuykendall of the former 101 Ranch in Hays County.
