Prehistoric Casas Grandes Ramos polychrome jar. Pre Columbian Casas Grandes (Pequime) culture, Ramos polychrome type, ca. 1150 to 1450 CE. Hand built pottery jar of spherical form with a rounded but stable base, a gently corseted shoulder, and a pair of petite handles set equidistantly around the thick rim. The tan hued exterior surfaces are adorned with geometric, linear, and stippled motifs in black and red pigments that do not touch as per the Ramos Polychrome tradition. Possible repair and restoration to portions of the rim with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines, but very well concealed if so. Minor abrasions, light fading to pigment and light earthen deposits. Nice manganese deposits and good preservation to decorative motifs.Thermoluminescence report included. Ex. Bishop Family Trust
