Hell Bent for Camp by Paul Abram

Hell Bent for Camp by Paul Abram (1933-2005). Oil on canvas; 24" x36", frame 46" x 34". Paul Abram, Jr. was a realist sculptor and painter of the historic American West. His work includes mixed media, watercolor, oil paintings, and bronze sculpture. He carefully created his images through the use of sketches and photography. In addition, he stages difficult ideas using models, weapons, and authentic costumes. He is inspired by the stories of the fur traders, and how they civilized America. His goal is to help them get credit for it. Abram has been interested in art since childhood, and slowly entered the field through commercial art after high school. In 1981, he received gold awards for mixed media at the George Phippen Memorial Day Show, and for best show and best watercolor in the American Indian and Cowboy Artist show. He was also a member of the AICA.
