Inuit cribbage board of walrus tusk. The top drilled for cribbage holes, decorated with a rabbit and deer. The underside decorated with caribou, seals, polar bear, rabbits and Canada goose. Scrimshawed in black. Compartment on base for pins but not included. Old label attached. These carvings were usually small carvings from walrus ivory, representing local animals and Inuit themselves, going about everyday life. Seals, caribou, polar bears, birds, and other animals important to Inuit’s survival were often represented.
