Kwakwaka'Wakw articulated raven mask attributed to Jimmy Joseph. Jimmy Joseph is a Kwakwaka’wakw carver from Alert Bay known for his deeply carved and brightly painted artworks. In particular, he often accents his work with unform white dashes over his primary black formlines, as seen on the beak, cheek, and brow of this Raven mask. This mask depicts a Hok Hok style Raven with an articulating beak that can create the distinctive “clacking” sound heard during a potlatch or dance. The mask is carved in red cedar and is cleanly carved with red, black, and white paint. The mask comes with a custom stand for display. 22" x 5 1/2" x 6 3/4"
