This is the second, in a set of three, sectional maps of the reconnaissance led by Lieut. John Mullan, US Army, that resulted in the Mullan Trail. According to Wheat, this was the most famous road ever constructed in the high Northwest - it became an important emigrant route and the major route into the gold regions of Idaho and Montana. Assisted by Theodore Kolecki and Gustavus Sohon, Civil Engineers, while attached ot the Military Expeditino under Col. Geo Wright, 9th Infantry in 1858. Scale 1:3000,000. Framed.
