Navajo Single Saddle
Navajo single saddle with banded design having diagonal banded accents at the corners. A size made for own use. In 1998, the Saint Louis Art Museum mounted an exhibition of famed singer Andy Williams' collection of Navajo weavings.
The catalogue which accompanied that exhibition included an introduction written by Williams' long-time friend Bill Pearson, wherein he recalled: "His collection of Native American textiles was formed over a period of ten years from 1975 to 1985. Originally this included many cultures - Saltillo, Rio Grande, Chimayo, and Pueblo - but because of some poor advice Andrew separated these variant cultures from his collection. The beneficiary of this decision was the De Young Museum.
