Nuu-chah-Nulth/Tseshaht Firs Nation Drum

Nu-chah-Nulth/Tseshaht First Nation eagle and serpent drum by Ed Clutesi. This older drum features an Eagle and a pair of Serpents surrounded by a gold and black rope. The drum is signed by Ed Clutesi of Port Alberni, British Columbia, no doubt a relative of the late George Clutesi (1905-1988), the renowned First Nations artist, actor, and author. This drum likely dates to the first half of the 20th century, as evidenced by the idiosyncratic style and the way the drumskin is tacked to the back rim of the frame. The drum is in good condition and comes with the original beater. 17 1/2"D x 2 1/2"
