Old Coast model Salish totem pole, Circa 1920. An older Coast Salish model totem pole that was likely made and sold in Seattle in the first quarter of the 20th century. Like other Coast Salish model poles from this era, it’s carved in a high relief style in which the figures seem to emerge from the background, with a single finial on top. This pole features, from the top: Bird, Owl, Frog, Raven, and a Human Face. The pole is carved in red cedar and painted in blue, green, black, red, and yellow pigments. It’s mounted on a weathered cut of spruce wood for a base. 21"H including base.
