Prehistoric Hopi Jeddito Black-on-Yellow (sometimes Black-on-White), ca. 1300 to 1500 CE. A beautiful pottery dipper hand-painted with fascinating decoration of sure black strokes against a creamy yellow background possibly depicting a roadrunner and the wind. Comprised of a hemispherical bowl and an extending handle, the ancient vessel features abstract linear, spiral, lattice, and geometric motifs on its interior, all encompassed by a thick black band sitting just below the rim. A single lattice-filled triangle adorns the handle. A lovely example displaying traditional symbols used throughout Ancestral Puebloan pottery!
