Tlingit “Good Luck” Totem by C. Dalton
This pole depicts the “Good Luck” or “Boy Who Fed the Eagles” totem pole motif that was usually made by Tsimshian artists from New Metlakatla, Alaska. It’s highly unusual for a Tlingit artist to depict this imagery.
Although it’s unclear exactly who C. Dalton was, Dalton is a very common Tlingit surname and would be easy enough to identify with a bit of research. Excellently carved and executed in clear yellow cedar. Signed C. Dalton, possibly carved by Clarence Dalton. Unpainted. 12 1/2"
